A Different Purpose

In choosing to live a life for Christ, we make a decision to live a life directed by God.  A life of Christ is remarkably different from a life governed by ourselves and a life governed by the dictates of man.  The Bible says, “we are in the world but not of the world.”  Our lives are governed by a different set of rules.  Our agenda is different.  Our purpose is different.  We move differently.  We act differently.  “Let no man deceive himself.  If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.  For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God,” [1 Corinthians 3: 18-19]. “For we are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your Spirit, which are God’s,” [I Corinthians 6:20].  That which we think we control, we do not.  Our life and living belongs to God.  Our physical countenance belongs to God.  “Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" [1 Corinthians 6:19].  We cannot defile the temple of the Holy Ghost.  The Holy Ghost is the Comforter.  The Comforter does not want to dwell in an unclean place.  The decision to live for Christ is the decision.
The decision to live for Christ is the right decision for several reasons.  One of the reasons is the fact that, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life,” [John 3:16].  God loves us.  He allowed his son to die that we may live.  Secondly, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord,” [Romans 6:23].  “If we confess ourselves, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness,” [1 John 1:9].  Lastly, the decision to live for God is a decision we make because we recognize who we are and to whom we belong.  We are made in the image and likeness of Christ.  It stands to reason that we want to grow and become who we are.   “For in him we live, and move and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring,” [Acts 17: 28].

God is happy with our decision to follow him.
