A Different Purpose

In choosing to live a life for Christ, we make a decision to live a life directed by God.  A life of Christ is remarkably different from a life governed by ourselves and a life governed by the dictates of man.  The Bible says, “we are in the world but not of the world.”  Our lives are governed by a different set of rules.  Our agenda is different.  Our purpose is different.  We move differently.  We act differently.  “Let no man deceive himself.  If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.  For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God,” [1 Corinthians 3: 18-19]. “For we are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your Spirit, which are God’s,” [I Corinthians 6:20].  That which we think we control, we do not.  Our life and living belongs to God.  Our physical countenance belongs to God.  “Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" [1 Corinthians 6:19].  We cannot defile the temple of the Holy Ghost.  The Holy Ghost is the Comforter.  The Comforter does not want to dwell in an unclean place.  The decision to live for Christ is the decision.
The decision to live for Christ is the right decision for several reasons.  One of the reasons is the fact that, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life,” [John 3:16].  God loves us.  He allowed his son to die that we may live.  Secondly, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord,” [Romans 6:23].  “If we confess ourselves, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness,” [1 John 1:9].  Lastly, the decision to live for God is a decision we make because we recognize who we are and to whom we belong.  We are made in the image and likeness of Christ.  It stands to reason that we want to grow and become who we are.   “For in him we live, and move and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring,” [Acts 17: 28].

God is happy with our decision to follow him.

Whom Will You Choose?

Turning from our wicked ways is a condition to God forgiving our sins and healing the land. His word states, “If my people, which are called  by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

Wicked ways is equivalent to sin. “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned,” [Romans 5:12]. Sin is a result of the disobedience to God. “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat,” [Genesis 3:6]. God instructed Adam not to eat the particular fruit. God stated, “for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shall surely die,” [Genesis 2:17]. Thus, the birth of sin. The whole of mankind suffered because of the disobedience of Adam and Eve.  Because of Adam and Eve, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God,” [Romans 3:23]. As God told Adam, “The   wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ our Lord,” [Romans 6:23].

Jesus’ suffering and death redeemed our sins. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness,” [1 John 1:9]. Glory be to God for allowing his son to die that we may live. Jesus paid the ultimate price. Even though the price was paid, we must plead to the father, through his son, to seek forgiveness. God will forgive us, if we seek forgiveness. Sin is an enemy to the Christian. We obviously cannot serve God and quench our sinful thirst. The sin of our lives is an impediment to spiritual growth and development. Sin a heavy weight that prevents us from moving forward. God cannot use us when we are weighted by sin.  We are not productive Christians if we choose to live in sin and disobey God. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places,”  [Ephesians 6:12].  Whom will you choose?

Building a Relationship with Christ

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land,” [II Chronicles 7:14]. The successful survival of a Christian is predicated on several things. According to the aforementioned word, these things include the following:
  • Humble ourselves
  • Pray
  • Seek his face
The dictionary describes the adjective "humble" as characterized by modesty or meekness in behavior, attitude or spirit. It is also defined as, “exhibiting differential or submissive respect; to make lower in condition or status." As Christians, we must recognize the Lordship and Sovereignty and God. He is the ruler of the universe. But for him, we are nothing. We must approach the throne of grace with a bowed down head and a humble heart. “Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven,” [Matthew 18:4]. Our spirit and soul should be converted to that of an innocent child. Jesus provided the greatest example of humbleness. After all, we are to be Christlike. Realizing that the time had come for Him to sacrifice His life for you and I, He humbled himself and washed his disciple’s feet. Jesus said, “For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. Verily, verily, I say unto you, the servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him,”  [John 13:15-16]. “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities like the wind, have taken us away,” [Isaiah 64: 6].

Prayer is the communication with God. We must talk to God so that our steps may be ordered. Prayer is the lifeline of our existence. Without communication with God, we cannot chard out destiny. Our purpose will not be revealed unless and until we talk to the Father. “Evening and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud:  and he shall hear my voice;" [Psalms 55:17]. “Pray without ceasing,”  [I Thessalonians 5:17].

It is imperative, in our spiritual growth and development, that we continually seek his face. The more intimate our relationship with God, the more he reveals himself to us. If our desire is a closer walk with Him, we must continually seek his face. If we want more God, we must seek more God. The God relationship is a personal relationship. God is not going to force himself upon us. We define the extent and nature of our relationship because he has blessed us with free will. Our relationship is as big as small as we design it to be. As for Spiritedsista, the more God I receive, the more God I desire to have in my life. I realize that God is my life and without God, there is no life. I desire, therefore, to seek him the more. “But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul,” [Deuteronomy 4:29]. “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you,” [Matthew 6:33].

Again, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal the land,” [II Chronicles 7:14].

The Power of God's Love

“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent his Son not into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved,” [John 3:16-17].

God’s love for you and I was demonstrated in the life of  Jesus. His love was manifested in the death of his Son. Jesus died that we may live. Our sins have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus. It is because of God’s sacrifice and his ultimate love that I seek to live my life reflective of him. God continually shows his love for us. His word says that “He will never leave us nor forsake us and that we can cast our cares upon Him because he cares for us.” God's love is much deeper that you and I will ever realize. The depth and width of God’s love is without bounds and is beyond the comprehension of God. I may not understand the depth and width of God’s love, but what I know and understand is that he loves me. It is because of his love that I will live my life for him forever.

Who Is Spiritedsista?

Spiritedsista was birthed from an insatiable desire and hunger to love God. It represents an organism that seeks to find the heavenly place in an earthly dwelling. Trapped in a place that symbolizes evil and produces sin, Spiritedsista searches for the God of the universe. Confined by the embodiment of man’s limitations, Spiritedsista gravitates toward the heavenly father that resides within her. Realizing that she was created in the image and likeness of God, she seeks to find her true identity. Spiritedsista, as the name indicates, is the holy spirit of a sista that permeates her being and existence. Without the Spirit, sista would cease to be. I am the Spirit and the Spirit is me.

I am a female who was taught about God as a child. My mother taught my siblings and me to love and fear God. We regularly attended Sunday school and participated in church activities.  As I grew older, I began to love God. Realizing that my life was not my possession, but a representation of God, my life sought a different direction. I was purchased by the blood of Jesus. As such, I deeply desired to live my life from that perspective. The blood that was shed for me propels my life. The Spirit of the living God is who I am.

Welcome

Hi, my name is Spiritedsista, and I'm the author of the memoir, S.L.U.T.S for Christ. While the title of my book may be off-putting to some, "S.L.U.T.S" is actually an acronym for "sisters living under the Holy Spirit." More than just a memoir, S.L.U.T.S. for Christ chronicles my walk with Christ as a Christian woman, as well as the many challenges that can be presented to those who have chosen to strive to be Christ-like.

The purpose of my blog is to continue to share my thoughts about how we can strive to live Christ-centered lives, as well as to hear about your personal experiences and journeys as well. I welcome your feedback containing thoughtful comments and questions!!
